Welcome to the Bahrain Montessori Centre (BMC). We are primarily a teacher training and research institute for early childhood education and development located in the Kingdom of Bahrain. All courses offered at BMC are certified by the Montessori Centre International (MCI), an internationally recognised teacher training institution in the United Kingdom www.montessoritraining.org.uk

Our certified BMC graduates are qualified to work in Montessori preschools and many recognised quality early childhood educational and care centres in several countries. Trained graduates can either work as a head teacher or an assistant teacher depending on the course certification.

Graduates may also wish to pursue other rewarding occupations working with young children outside a classroom setting. The training and experience is particularly relevant for professionals working with either gifted, ill or special needs children (teachers, parents, psychologists, therapists, nurses and doctors).

Parent graduates from many walks of life and many with professional backgrounds equally benefit from our courses while gaining valuable skills and knowledge which importantly supports the development of their own children.

In addition, BMC provides several outreach and interventions programmes in our local community (and abroad through research) for children and their families. These are mentioned below.

BMC’s Primary Goals
We provide a number of high-quality teacher training courses for those seeking to become qualified teachers in the field of early childhood education and care and the Montessori pedagogy and practice. All the courses at BMC follow the recognised teaching standards, requirements and qualifications of The Montessori Centre International (MCI), United Kingdom. The content of each level of training provides a well-balanced foundation of skills and knowledge for successfully teaching, assisting or working as support staff in early years environments. The ladder of expertise gained via successive levels of training can enable successful candidates to become specialised in early childhood education and development (ages 3-6 years old). Certified Montessori graduates are notably recognised and respected for their quality training in the profession throughout the world.
We offer a regularly scheduled Parent Course Learning Together, An Introduction to the Montessori Approach. We facilitate and engage families in building awareness, knowledge and understanding with regards to early childhood education and development through this important outreach programme in our community. Review further details about this course by clicking on Parent Course.
We contribute short and long term evidence-based Research in the field of early childhood education/care (ECEC) and child development in English and Arabic. BMC is committed to supporting and improving quality education and has funded, executed and published several research projects over the years. Review further details by clicking on ERS global network. Several BMC graduate students have helped in data collection and made valuable contributions to our on-going research at BMC. Most of our students are trained in procedures that enable them to conduct rigorous observational assessment/ evaluation. For more information regarding training for the ERS visit BMC Workshops.

We fund, support and facilitate high quality educational intervention in the homes of many children and families living at risk in our community (English and Arabic languages). The Mother Child Home Education Programme (MOCEP) was founded in Bahrain in 2001 and runs in co-operation under the ACEV Foundation in Turkey. This high quality home educational-empowerment programme serves families living at risk. Further details are available at our MOCEP website: www.mocep-bahrain.com and the ACEV website: www.acev.org Also see our Research listings

Other branches of the MOCEP intervention include the Father Support Programme, FSP and the Community Outreach Programme, COP which provides classes for parents with children attending pre-schools. Training for these programmes is available through our BMC Workshops.

BMC staff and students developed and founded the Reach Out and Read Programme (ROR) in Bahrain for children in hospital care. ROR is an all-volunteer organisation run the auspices of BMC which provides reading and activities for children who are under short and long-term hospital care in Bahrain’s leading hospital, Salmaniya.
